Emergency Relief,
Real Experience
The American Red Cross Volunteer Internship Program offers students and recent graduates the opportunity to gain direct, hands-on experience in humanitarian service — from disaster relief coordination to community health outreach.
This is a special relief cycle responding to communities hit hardest by the current national crisis. Your work will directly support foster homes, food distribution, blood collection, and emergency shelter operations across the United States.
- Structured mentorship from Red Cross senior staff and certified relief specialists.
- Flexible 8-hour weekly schedule that works around your academic commitments.
- Official Red Cross certification and a letter of recommendation upon completion.
- Every month, Red Cross and partner foundations support foster homes and relief centers across all 50 states.
Three Pillars of Service
Interns are placed in roles that match their background and skills. Every role is mission-critical.

Blood & Donation Services
Assist with blood drives, coordinate donor appointments, manage blood unit transport, and support the supply chain that delivers life-saving blood products to hospitals across the country.

Operations & Coordination
Work alongside experienced staff in our relief centers — managing communications, tracking aid deployments, supporting data entry, and coordinating logistics for emergency response missions nationwide.

Field Disaster Relief
Deploy with our disaster response teams to distribute blankets, food, clean water, and emergency kits to families affected by hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other crises. Real field experience, real impact.
Your Impact & Benefits
Direct Impact
You will be responsible for donations, purchase of electronics, items, and sundry materials which you shop for and ship to foster homes across the state to put a smile on their faces.
Living Stipend
All our interns are entitled to a stipend as a contribution towards living expenses, paid by the American Red Cross or a partner institution.
Travel & Visa Support
A one-time lump sum contribution towards travel and visa costs may be granted when funding is available, making it easier for you to join our mission.
